Sexual Integrity Open Intensive — Edinburgh
Saturday, October 3rd, 2026 | W Hotel, Edinburgh, Scotland
Blair's coming to Edinburgh October 3, 2026 to host an in-person intensive on sexual integrity, pornography, and problematic sexual behavior.
A lot of men who struggle with pornography or sexual behavior already know what they’re “not supposed to do.” They’ve probably told themselves to stop hundreds of times. Some have installed filters, made promises to their partner, joined accountability groups, gone to therapy, or spent years bouncing between periods of success and relapse.
And yet the pattern keeps returning. At some point, “How do I make myself stop?” may no longer be the most useful question. We need to start asking what is actually happening underneath the behavior. That’s what we’re going to talk about in Edinburgh.
What is the Sexual Integrity Open Intensive?
This will be an in-person, open-format event led by Blair Bisher of BPB Counseling. We’ll spend our time looking at pornography and unwanted sexual behavior from a broader perspective than simply abstinence. That means talking about the behavior itself, but also about the things surrounding it: stress, loneliness, resentment, boredom, relationships, intimacy, shame, emotional regulation, sexual desire, secrecy, and the stories we tell ourselves before and after we act.
I call this approach Sustainable Sexual Integrity. The basic idea is pretty simple: I don't want someone to spend the rest of his life terrified that one bad day will send him back to square one. I want him to understand himself well enough that he can make increasingly intentional decisions about his sexuality—even when life gets difficult.
What we'll actually talk about:
We'll look at the patterns that tend to develop around pornography and other unwanted sexual behaviors. Why does the urge seem stronger at certain times? What happens in the hours before acting out? What are you feeling when pornography suddenly seems particularly appealing?
What happens after? And perhaps most importantly: **what are you actually looking for in that moment?**
Porn, sex, fantasizing and infidelity can also become a reliable way to escape, regulate emotion, numb discomfort, experience novelty, deal with rejection, avoid loneliness, or temporarily stop thinking about something we don't want to feel. Understanding that doesn't excuse our choices; let's acknowledge the difference between blaming and understanding.
We're also going to talk about sexuality/intimacy:
This is an important distinction. Sexual integrity isn't the absence of sexuality. I don't believe the goal should be to become afraid of sexual desire or to spend your life monitoring yourself for evidence that you're somehow failing. Instead, part of this work involves developing a healthier understanding of sexuality itself.
What do you believe about sex/intimacy? What do you believe about desire? What have pornography and other experiences taught you about intimacy? What does sexuality/intimacy look like when it is consistent with your values rather than in conflict with them? Those are harder questions than simply asking whether you watched pornography this week. They're also much more interesting.
Who should attend?
This event is intended for adults who want to better understand their relationship with pornography, sexual behavior, compulsivity, secrecy, or sexual integrity. You might be early in this process and trying to understand what's happening. You might have been working on this for years.
You might be doing relatively well but realize that your entire recovery strategy still revolves around avoiding relapse. You may also be trying to rebuild trust in a relationship after sexual secrecy. You don't need to arrive with the right terminology or a particular diagnosis. You also won't be expected to tell a room full of strangers your life story.
This is an open forum. There will be teaching, discussion, questions, and practical exercises, but participants can decide for themselves how much they want to share.
Why Edinburgh?
We've received great interest from the UK and Edinburgh made the most sense for an in-person meetup. Most of my work is based in the United States, so I'm particularly excited to have the opportunity to bring this conversation to Scotland.
We'll be meeting at the W Edinburgh, right in the heart of Edinburgh.
About Blair Bisher
I'm an addiction counselor, professor, author, national speaker and the founder of BPB Counseling Group. A significant part of my clinical work has focused on problematic sexual behavior, pornography, relationships, and sexual integrity. Over time, that work led me to develop a strengths-based, person-centered approach I reference as a Sustainable Sexual Integrity model. The model grew out of a recurring problem I saw in this work: people could become very good at tracking what they weren't doing without necessarily developing a clear idea of who they wanted to become. My work focuses on closing that gap.
